We Rise Day of Action 9th Dec

Do join campaigners around the world to call for action on climate change while the United Nations climate talks are taking place in Dubai.

There’s an international day of action on the 9th December and local campaigners will be gathering near the D-Day museum at noon for a rally with music and song and then marching through Southsea.

The climate talks, COP 28, are billed as our last opportunity to turn the tide on fossil fuels. We know that we need to phase out oil and gas if we are to prevent the worst effects of climate change and yet so far, the promises made by governments around the world are way off target.

In the last few weeks, Rishi Sunak has back-tracked on pledges to cut fossil fuels and promised to max out North Sea oil production, which is unacceptable in a heating world.

Our government has also failed to pledge sufficient money to meet promises made at previous COP gatherings.

So please put 9th of December in your diaries and in the meantime sign and share this call to ask the government to keep the pledges it made for 2030.
