The Time is Now: virtual lobby

Get involved in a virtual lobby of your MP and call for a healthy, greener, fairer future to be at the heart of plans to rebuild a strong economy.

On 30th June thousands of people will come together for a virtual lobby, urging their MPs to take action for a better future for both people and the planet.

This mass lobby is being organised by the Climate Coalition, and follows on from last year’s Time is Now demonstration in central London. This saw 12,000 people campaign outside Parliament on 26 June and hold face to face meetings with their MPs to raise their concerns about the climate emergency.

As we build back from the current health crisis, we can choose to tackle climate change and nature’s decline, and rebuild a resilient economy that benefits everyone in society.

Add your voice to those calling for this future by taking part in this year’s virtual lobby.

The first thing to do is to contact your MP. There are two MPs in Havant borough – Alan Mak and Flick Drummond. To find out who to contact and how to reach them visit parliament.uk or theyworkforyou.com.

Then write to your MP and ask for virtual meeting. Check out and use this draft letter provided by the Climate Coalition. Please do copy havclimate@gmail.com into your email – or just message us to let us know that you have been in touch with your MP.

Your MP should offer you a zoom or other conference call link. Or we can set up a call for up to 100 people through Havant Climate Alliance.

Find out more at https://www.theclimatecoalition.org/virtual-lobby and download their guide. Or email havclimate@gmail.com to join with others who are meeting Alan Mak or Flick Drummond and we will keep you updated and involved with what you need to do to prepare for your meeting.
